So one of the things that I always want to teach and model is a willingness to do what God wants no matter what, and even if it doesn’t always make sense.
Jen and I have one of those opportunities to model that now. Over the last several months we have been talking about college funding and future planning. Jen has been working part-time but there was a need for some more income & we decided for us that we didn’t want her to be working more than she already was.
About this same time I was approached by a smaller local Catholic Parish. They were looking to modernize and were looking for someone to give mass and speak on a part-time basis. It seemed like an odd fit, but we said we would think about it. After many discussions and a little negotiation (like, I will wear jeans with the black shirt and collar), and we will bring some upbeat music, etc. to the parish, I agreed to become their part-time Priest.
This won’t affect The Journey much at all. They only have a Saturday mass, so there are no Sunday responsibilities, and I’ll reserve Thursday’s to work there. So, if you attend The Journey you probably won’t notice much of a difference, although I may slip some Catholic language in on Sunday’s by mistake; but I thought you should know. P.S. If you’re Catholic, what do you think of our new Pope?
So, I guess, you can call me Paul, Pastor Paul, or now: Father Paul.
Happy first day of April everyone. Enjoy Spring Break and don’t do anything foolish.
