Yesterday I began this series about the genesis of going multi-site. Today is for Journeyers - here's some of the inside scoop and some things you need to know about what a second site means for The Journey:
1. Same but different. We've been communicating this for a while now. You will experience the same language, the same style, the same casual environment, the same Journey humor, etc. When you invite someone you know what they'll be getting. BUT, it will be different. We don't have the same size building (it will be significantly smaller). We don't have the same coffee bar (although we will have things), etc. For some people this will be a wonderful thing - smaller feels more like home, not so intimidating, etc. For others it will be an adjustment. The M120 site will not be our location forever. It's a starting off point (just like the Trillium Conference and Banquet Center was for our Pontaluna campus.
2. The two sites will mostly be doing the same message series', but at different times or in different orders. So, if you decided to go to Pontaluna exit on one Sunday, and M120 on the next, you could hear the same message. Matt & I (along with other staff occasionally, and video occasionally) will split much of the speaking. I (and Matt) will be equally (approximately) at both campuses. For example: Our current series, Life Apps, has me speaking a couple times and Matt speaking a couple times. If the M120 site was launched right now I would speak twice at Pontaluna & twice at M120 and the messages I spoke at Pontaluna would be the ones that I would speak at M120 (on different weeks). Make sense?
3. Music will be same style, but we'll have bands & leaders that may go back and forth a bit. Aaron will spend most of his time at Pontaluna but will also go to the M120 site.
4. We have a great group of people committed to going to M120 and ministering in the community in which they live. That's awesome!! I am so proud of that group. We're feeling pretty good about our volunteer base for the M120 site, but we can always use a few more!! BUT, that also means that we're losing some volunteers at Pontaluna. If you haven't stepped into serving, or you know you need to take a next step, NOW is a great time to do that. We need YOU to accomplish the mission God is giving us.
Tomorrow I'll talk about some of the things we're learning about starting a second site & why it took us so stinkin' long to get going.
