Yesterday I was helping facilitate a coaching group for pastors in Lansing. No matter how old or young, no matter if you're a rookie or a seasoned veteran, everyone needs coaching. Even the greats like Tiger Woods, or Michael Jordan had coaches. Why?
We need outside eyes to look at our situation and help us see reality. Often we're so close to the action that we can't see what's really going on. Coaches help with that.
We need coaches to help us see ourselves. We all have blindspots in our life and we don't see them because . . . they are blindspots (duh!). We need people to be able to point out our blindspots.
We need people who are peers, that understand what we're going through. They bring perspective. They bring experience.
Who is helping to coach you? If you don't have someone helping to coach you in your finances or parenting or job or spiritual life, you are not excelling at the level you could be. Maybe that's one-on-one coaching, maybe that's a book, a blog, or a podcast. Maybe it's a conference. Who do you have in your life that can bring an outside perspective, can point out your blindspots, and make sure you're facing reality? Everyone needs a coach.
