On Friday I posted this April Fools Day post. It freaked some people out!! I've done this for a few years now, including last year's post that Jen was pregnant at 40. And the year before that, I posted about the demise of 'Big Blue', my grandma car in a blazing inferno.
Every year, I get people to buy in. Last year my aunt cried when she found out the joyous news, and a college friend thought Jen was pregnant until December.
I had a few people the last few days that seriously thought we were throwing away the vision at The Journey and all that they believed in. Don't worry, you can breathe deeply again. Lots of things will change through the years at The Journey, but one thing won't, and that is the vision that God has laid on our hearts from the very beginning. If we're going to be a church for people who have given up on church, then we need to do everything we can to share the hope and life and message of Jesus with people, in a way that connects, and is grace-filled, and speaks truth.
So . . . NO, we're not going on tv. No, I'm not going to wear make-up. No, we're not going to be begging people for money. No, we're not going to be dressing up like Benny Hinn (thanks for the pics though, Mike!)
