We're taking another bold, new step for The Journey. It's one I never thought we'd take, nor one I'd never planned on taking. After several months of discussions, The Journey is headed to tv. We're being picked up for some regional and potentially national television exposure of our weekly services. I had always said we'd never do tv - I don't want to be a "tv preacher" . . . you know THOSE guys.
But, the opportunity was too big to ignore. So, there will be a few changes because of this - obviously the cameras and crew. We'll be adding even more new lighting, I'll have to wear make-up (yay!!!), and we'll have to do a "pledge time" in the middle of the service. But, don't worry, we aren't going to make money a big deal with you all (your relationship is more important than your money). But, we don't have a relationship with the people on the tv, so we'll push for them to give more, which will help our vision be accomplished. I also might need to start dressing up a little more, as the research shows people give more when the pastor is dressed nicer. We won't really change who we are and our vision too much. But, this kind of opportunity was one we had to take, especially with kids getting ready for college in a few years - we'd be fools not to.
Well, there it is. There's lots of work to be done, and I can't believe it's already the first of April!
