I was one of the 4 million people who watched Persons Unknown this summer (which is why it won't be back). But, in spite of the low viewership, I loved it!
Why? Because I love shows in which I have to figure out something. I love shows in which I end up rooting for the underdog against the big, bad villian. I love seeing how someone's story is woven together and how all the little parts of their story make them who they are. I love seeing how people's stories intersect with one another.
At the end of the show's final sequence I was left thouroughly unfulfilled, yet blown away. I found out new information, that changed everything. But, there was no payoff - they didn't "win", there was no underdog moment, there was no victory.
I'm so glad the mission that we're a part of here on earth has a "payoff", and I'm so thankful that we've been privileged at The Journey to watch people's stories intersect with God and know that there is an ultimate victory that is taking place.
