I didn't watch the whole Major League Baseball Game last night - the one that went to 15 innings and was played for 4 hours and 50 minutes. The problem was, I didn't watch the first part of the game! So, I stayed up, inning after inning, through every near-win, and every agonizing commercial break until the game finally ended about 1:45 am!! I'm dragging a little bit this morning.
Okay - a quick observation - the All-Star game is the biggest stage (after the World Series) in baseball. Some people seem to step up and excel, and some seem to struggle. Those that embrace it and and don't think about how big it is, seem to do well. Those who excel are given more credit than they are due, and those who struggle are given more grief than they are due. I felt bad for Dan Uggla of the Florida Marlins. He is a great player. But last night - he had 3 errors, struck out 3 times and hit into a double play! That's a really bad day when it's NOT the All-Star Game. He didn't even play the whole first half of the game. I'm hoping he'll live it down. What is it about certain people that they just seem to live for the crucial moment, for the bright lights, while others seem to wilt from the pressure??
Also, our family is watching the new summer show "Wipeout". Super funny! We were laughing so hard as a family last night, we were in tears, and my side hurt.
Okay, it's 9:30 am, I think I'm ready for a nap.
